Creative Learning

Through our flagship programs; Creative Schools and Scribblers, we collaborate with educators, makers and storytellers to provide a platform for young people to embrace creativity as a cornerstone of learning and growth. We are helping foster a future where imagination and possibility lead the way.
Creative Schools
The year-round program is designed to empower young people to develop their creativity, sense of agency and wellbeing through programs that foster curiosity, a love of learning and young people’s ability to make sense of the world around and within them.

Creative Schools is our innovative evidence-backed creative learning program. To date, the program has reached nearly 6,000 students, in 209 Western Australian classrooms, over 10% of schools in the State. It uses creative teaching and learning strategies to cultivate young people’s agency and engagement in learning across the curriculum. It helps young people develop the 5 Creative Habits of Learning: being imaginative, inquisitive, collaborative, persistent and self-disciplined.

Research shows education is most effective when young people are actively involved in leading and influencing it, taking responsibility for their own learning and playing an active role in life at school.

Creativity brings with it the ability to question, make connections, innovate, problem solve, communicate, collaborate and to reflect critically. These are the skills young people need to shape their future and make a positive impact on the communities in which they live.

“When a teacher works with a creative practitioner, it takes the learning to a different place, to places that I wouldn't have taken it. We have an opportunity to put learning on steroids.”

Scribblers
Scribblers is a celebration of storytelling in all its forms for children and young people. During the year across Perth Metro, regional and remote areas of our State, the program engages children, parents, families, schools and communities with the possibilities of books, culture, art, technology and writing.

We bring families together with storytellers from all over the world—graphic novelists, authors, oral storytellers, illustrators, cartoonists and more—to ignite curiosity and a love of learning in young people. We run the Scribblers Family Festival, The YA Collective, The Golden Pen Writing Competition, the Golden Feather Hunt, FRONT and our travelling program Scribblers on the Road.

Through connection with inspirational creative folks from around the world, Scribblers helps ignite curiosity and foster imagination in young minds.

“The authors were very friendly and welcoming and they clearly loved being at Scribblers. I had a fabulous weekend and it opened my mind to new ways of creating. I enjoyed how inspiring all of the authors were, they gave so many great tips for writing and taught me so much. I found it hilarious and full of passion and I will definitely be coming again.”
